Ben Heckman is a lifelong resident of Pittsburgh and a firm believer in what made our city strong - grit, sincerity, honesty, and the liberty to build one's own future. Ben is a champion of liberty, civil rights, and decentralization.
A member of Gen Z, Ben takes pride in running against the party of nepo babies, operatives, and octogenarians. As a former state director and legislative coordinator for Young Americans for Liberty, Ben understands executive management and what it takes to lead a team in racking up wins for liberty. Admittedly, that experience is not necessary to diagnose Pittsburgh with a severe case of mismanagement. Between the rise in crime, drop in jobs, perpetuated housing crisis, and looming budget disaster, Pittsburgh needs a reboot. Facing a turning point in our city's nearly 300-year history, Ben looks to bring an energized, hopeful, and expansive approach to solving our city's problems.
Not looking to climb a political career ladder, Ben's candidacy has the unique value of actually standing on principle, regardless of how easy or popular that principle is. In 2021, during the COVID-19 response, Ben faced down the most anti-liberty regime of recent times when he was handcuffed on campus for violating a school policy against walking on campus during the pandemic.
Ben will now put his courage, vision, and energy to work for Pittsburgh. The status quo of our city has become disappointment, desolation, and unaccountability. Standing against the bipartisan support of our city's mediocrity is now easy task. Ben has no corporate donors pumping his campaign millions, no "nonprofit" executives throwing him fundraisers, and no cronies looking to befriend him. All he has is you, the Pittsburgh voter, who only wants your city back. With your help, we can take it back. Join us!
